BR 2-02: French Adventures Part 1 (Strong, 2001)

"Ouiiiiii!"

This is the story that English children have a field trip to France and I read the first edition. They go by coach to Dover, take a ferry and at last can see the coast of France. From chapter 4 to 6, they arrive at an old chateau and are so excited! They eat nice dinner and go to bed. The nest day, they visit Paris for sightseeing and go to the church with small groups. Then, a person in charge is taken by two angry men and two kids of his group are upset.

I think that the funniest part of this book is chapter 5, "The French Ghosts". Two boys with their blankets to pretend ghosts break in a girl's room and go 'whooo'. Girls in that room are of course surprised and scared, but the women in charge do never behave scared and let the ghosts reveal themselves. They know the difference between British ghosts and a French one, but I've never heard of it. I found it interesting, though it's not clear whether it's true or not. English ghosts say "whooo" and a French one says "ouiiiiii"!
